It was the night of the weekly testimony service. Every chair was occupied. There were about three hundred and fifty people present. The atmosphere was intensely devotional. The singing was really praise, not a performance. The reading had purpose in it. The meditation was full of meaning.... I came away feeling that I had really been at worship. And when I reflected that other churches and chapels ... were probably empty for the week-night service, while this was full, I felt sure that Christian Scientists are on the track of a great idea; and the number of young men present made me glad of this additional evidence that men are incurably religious.
