In a recent article in your paper a correspondent touches upon Christian Science, misrepresenting its teachings. I shall endeavor to correct his misconceptions in the following statements on the subject.

Mary Baker Eddy, the author of the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," elucidates throughout this book and throughout all her other writings, to every sincere seeker of Truth, how every one may be able to follow the path which Christ Jesus points out and bids us all to follow. Through the study of this textbook thousands of people all over the world have learned to love the Bible, which before was a sealed book to them. Thereby they have become sincere Christians, who through their lives afford proof of the utility of their faith.

For these thousands of believers Christian Science is, therefore, no "poor substitute," as our critic says, but they are rejoicingly obeying the words of Mrs. Eddy as given on page 570 of the textbook: "Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ's name, and never fear the consequences."
