I wish to express my gratitude for the many beautiful...
I wish to express my gratitude for the many beautiful proofs that I have had of Christian Science healing. Over a year ago I was taken suddenly ill. Treatment was immediately and lovingly given me by a Christian Science practitioner. During my illness many serious physical conditions were manifested,—heart trouble, an annoying bladder trouble, weakness, fatigue, and a fear of going where there were many people; but, with the faithful ministration and loving care of the practitioner, these discordant conditions were entirely overcome through the understanding of the power of divine Love; and I am deeply grateful.
I would also like to testify to an experience of several years ago. One morning, when walking on the ice, I slipped and had a bad fall, striking my left arm and spraining my wrist. The pain was very severe. On my way home I kept repeating the "scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I reached home my arm and hand were very much swollen; I could not use them at all. I telephoned the practitioner, who began treatment at once. The next day the pain subsided and the swelling went down. The following morning I was obliged to go to a distant city to dismantle our house, which had been sold. It was bitter weather and there was no heat in the house. At night I remained with a friend whose husband is a physician. When I left each morning to supervise the furniture packers, the doctor would say, "You are very foolish to take such risks in such severe weather; you are liable to have pneumonia;" but I went free from all fear, knowing that God protects His idea. I was obliged to use my hand and arm constantly, as I had a great number of trunks to pack. At the end of two days and a half the work was completed and the things were ready for the storehouse. When I returned to the home where I was visiting, I was feeling perfectly well, without any sense of weariness or pain, and my wrist was entirely healed. For these proofs of God's loving care and protection I am indeed more than grateful.
