When an individual accepts Christian Science, he learns with joy just what the Bible teaches about the coming of the Comforter promised by Jesus. Popular theological thought has confused the promised coming again of the Christ with the supposed physical reappearance of the man Jesus. That the so-called "second coming" is not a material but a spiritual manifestation is no more satisfying to the carnal mind now than was the coming of the meek Christ Jesus to the Jews, who looked for a conquering savior-king who should literally reign on the earth, and avenge their wrongs politically. Christian Science knows and proves that the Christ, the promised Comforter, has come again, and is being made manifest to mankind to-day in the healing of both mind and body. On page 55 of the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,"Mrs. Eddy says: "In the words of St. John: 'He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.' This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science." Divine Science is the complete and applicable knowledge of God, good, available now and forever to cleanse men of sin, and heal them of disease. On this rock of Truth rests the Christian Science church.
