Florence, Italy (Society).—Introducing Bicknell Young, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, the Hon. the Lady Marconi made the following remarks:—

In the fourth chapter of Hebrews we read, "The word of God is quick, and powerful." More than fifty years ago, Mary Baker Eddy, in New England, rediscovered the practical power of "the word of God," or the activity of spiritual law, and named her discovery Christian Science. She was convinced, after proving the activity of this law in healing sin and disease, that she had a mission to give her discovery to the world; and in her wisdom she designed ways and means to reach suffering humanity. We who are Christian Scientists are such because, through the inspired interpretation of the Scriptures, as given in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, we have passed from darkness into God's marvelous light, through the healing efficacy of divine Love, as taught and demonstrated by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Christian Science speaks the "Peace, be still," and enables us to demonstrate that spiritual law is the real law, the same yesterday, to-day, and forever, the same healing law that Jesus the Christ preached and practiced "on the hills of Judæa and in the valleys of Galilee" (Science and Health, p. 147) centuries ago, which has lost none of its healing efficacy to-day, and which he told his followers to preach and practice.
