It is with sincere gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science...
It is with sincere gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science has brought me that I give this testimony. Our daughter, aged five years, was taken very ill; and we telephoned a Christian Science practitioner. During the forenoon the child was delirious and had a high temperature. The practitioner came to the house, and within a short time the child fell into a peaceful sleep. That evening we noticed a slight breaking out across the chest. We were advised by the practitioner to call a physician, as required by civil law. The physician pronounced it a very bad case of scarlet fever, and was going to leave medicine for her; but I told him we were having Christian Science treatment. He was very fearful for us, and said, "What can that do for her?" He also told me to get our boy home at once, to keep from spreading the disease.
When the doctor left I was almost overcome by fear; but the child looked up and said, "Mother, don't you know that God will take care of me?" The fear left me at once, and I was willing to leave all to God. We were quarantined, but the practitioner was told over the telephone what the doctor had pronounced the case, and Science work was continued. That evening the child wanted to get up and play. The next morning she ate a hearty breakfast, and was as well as could be. Later, one of my friends (not interested in Science) told me what to do to keep the boy from taking the disease. Her talk caused me to forget God's protecting care temporarily, and soon the fear manifested itself on the child. I telephoned the practitioner, and the boy was healed within one hour. We were kept in quarantine three weeks; the usual time is five or six weeks.
This truth has brought a great spiritual uplift to all of us; and words cannot express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy and to all who have helped me.
