When I became interested in Christian Science I was suffering...
When I became interested in Christian Science I was suffering from the claim of weak eyes and had worn glasses for over two years. When I was a small child my parents were advised by an eye specialist to put glasses on me as my eyes were in bad condition, and at times I was compelled to miss school, but not until I was grown and began doing office work as stenographer, did I submit to the use of glasses. Frequently I had severe headache, believed to be caused by my eyes, and while suffering with one of these headaches, I asked for a treatment by a practitioner, in whose home I was visiting, and the pain left me instantly. That was my first experience with Christian Science. A few days later I asked this practitioner to give me a treatment for my eyes, which she did, and I put away my glasses and have never worn them since, although I have done office and book work continuously since that time, and for the past twelve years.
I was troubled with a weakness that caused pain in my back most of the time, and more than once broke down under this claim. At one time I was so helpless I could neither raise my head nor turn myself in bed, and was able to do scarcely anything for many months. I have been entirely freed from this weakness and pain by the help of the same practitioner, with only a few absent treatments. I now work from ten to fourteen hours a day and have missed only one day through physical disability, from my daily work, in the past four or five years.
Many other discords have been overcome through the study of Christian Science and I am grateful to the practitioner who so lovingly and patiently helped me to rise above the claims of mortal belief when my understanding of Christian Science was not sufficient to overcome these claims, and I am thankful to God for His omnipotent and omnipresent love, and to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring effort in presenting this Science to the world.
