The understanding of Christian Science, however small...

The understanding of Christian Science, however small the knowledge may be, brings to me a perfect sense of peace and rest. I have experienced several healings of sorrow during the last eighteen months: the losing of four brothers in the war and the passing on of my dear husband seemed to me a great test. I prayed humbly and earnestly to seek fresh strength and courage from an all-wise, loving Father-Mother God, the great Healer of all sorrow; and the need was met. There were moments when the human self cried that I should not see them again; then there came a comforting though that helped me very much,—that it is wrong to think of those who have passed on as dead; in doing so we are hindering instead of helping their demonstration that Life is eternal. Then I felt very peaceful and happy about them, and I know that in raising our thoughts higher, we can learn to look beyond the stifling veil of sense and see "the wide horizon's grander view, the sense of Life that knows no death." Clinging to Christ, Truth, I was able to gain a clearer realization of the fact that God is good.

I would also like to tell of a healing that I had quite recently. One morning while at work I got my right foot fixed between a lift and the siding, the lift going about two yards before I managed to stop it. I found on getting my foot out, that the upper part of my shoe had been torn away, also I had three badly crushed toes and a sprained ankle. Keeping my presence of mind, I was able to declare the truth of God's allness, and that no accident could happen to God's spiritual ideas. I was able to keep on with my work as usual. I am very grateful to say I experienced no pain in the foot whatever but just a little discomfort from the stiffness and swelling. In about a week the foot was completely healed. There was not a moment that I was kept from doing all that was required of me. I feel so very grateful to God for the many blessings which have come to me and for all that I have been able to overcome through the slight understanding I have gained through the teachings of Christian Science, and I thank the kind friends for their loving, patient encouragement in helping me over the stepping-stones from darkness into light. My desire in sending this testimony is to try to help others who are passing through the seeming sense of loss and separation.
