Among the Churches

Melbourne, Australia.—We had arranged for our lectures to be held on November 15, 16, and 17, but owing to the Transcontinental Railway strike, Dr. Hubbard was unable to proceed to Western Australia on the day arranged. In order that he might have an opportunity of going later, if the strike were settled, we changed our dates to a week earlier, leaving very little time for the ordinary advertising. In spite of this we had splendid audiences, and so greatly were the three lectures appreciated, that we had many requests to have another, which we did on the following Sunday afternoon, as Dr. Hubbard was still unable to go to the West. We had only four days to advertise and make the necessary arrangements, but we had only fifty people less than the previous Sunday; that is to say, we had an audience of fourteen hundred. We feel the lectures have been a tremendous help to the community and we are grateful that we have been able to give them such a feast.

Anaheim, Calif.—Dedication services were held by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sunday, January 18.

In January, 1909, a few who were interested in Christian Science met in a private home. The meetings continued to grow numerically and a Christian Science Society was organized August 1, 1909. In April, 1910, the Opera House was rented for Sunday services and testimony meetings. In April, 1911, the lots on which the building now stands were purchased, a building committee was formed, and plans for a building adopted. The first church services were held in the building in November, 1911. On February 20, 1919, it was voted to organize as First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Anaheim, and the charter was received June 24, 1919.
