When Christian Science found me I thought nothing of...
When Christian Science found me I thought nothing of religion, and never read the Bible; now it is a very interesting book to me. Several years previous I had a serious accident which resulted in almost entire loss of sight in one eye. After taking medical treatment and using every kind of remedy available, I found myself growing worse, and then broke down completely. Christian Science was presented to me by a dear friend and my husband asked me to give it a trial. I went to a practitioner, who gave me a few treatments, after which I was able to help myself in Science. We went to live on a homestead twenty-eight miles from a railroad, and being alone a great deal of the time, I spent three years in earnest study and found the true God to be Mind. I can truthfully say to-day that my eyesight has been restored; my eyes were never so strong before. While that healing was taking place I found myself healed completely of chronic bowel trouble of years' standing. This summer I dislocated my ankle and the foot swelled to twice its size. My husband wished to take me to a doctor, but I told him I needed no physician. I knew I could help myself with Christian Science and I did. The pain left a few moments after the dislocation took place, and I experienced that peace "which passeth all [human] understanding." The sense of fear completely left me, and I was up on crutches doing my housework from that day on. Not one material remedy was used, and in a very short time I was walking as well as ever. I want to say that for several years not a drop of medicine has passed my lips, while before that no day went by without it being taken. I am very grateful for Christian Science and my one desire is to learn more and more of the truth that makes us free.
(Mrs.) Lila Northrup, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I wish to verify my wife's statements. She was practically an invalid before turning to Christian Science, but has not taken any medicine or consulted a doctor since and is in good health.
