In loving gratitude for many blessings, also for healings too numerous to mention, that have come to me through Christian Science, I wish to tell of my wonderful healing over thirty years ago. After the birth of my son in 1883, I seemed in very delicate health; in fact I did not believe it possible to live. The local physicians did not give me any relief, so I had treatment from a specialist. After several months without a favorable symptom I was desperate and inquired why I did not improve at all. He told me that I would never be any better unless I would undergo an operation. This I greatly feared and refused to do, but did long to live, as I had much to live for.

I believed in God and looked to Him even before I learned that He is All-power. When a dear sister-in-law asked me why I did not try Christian Science I inquired what it was, as I had never heard the name. After hearing of a healing that she had experienced, I felt that there must be something in it, and went with her to see a practitioner. After the treatment, I asked when to return and was informed that I need not return. On reaching home I felt much stronger, could walk without fatigue, and was also full of happiness. For several days I was up around the house attending to light household duties without suffering the least inconvenience. My husband was somewhat concerned that I delayed my visit to the doctor, so at the end of a week I told him that I had tried Christian Science and was healed. He became interested at once, bought "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and was an earnest student from the start. Since then, times without number, the power of Truth as taught in Christian Science has proved to be the only way. I am not more grateful for the many healings of disease than I am for the healing (correcting) of many faults, which to mortal sense seem part of one's self until the truth proves that no error has any place in or power over God's image and likeness.

Words cannot express my gratitude to God for His loving-kindness and wisdom in sending us the dear Master, Christ Jesus, whose wise instructions to his disciples became Scriptural record; also, for sending us our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has furnished us with a key to the Scriptures and brought to our remembrance all things whatsoever he hath said. It is my constant desire to live each day so that I may be worthy of the name "Christian Scientist."
