In gratitude to God for the great gift of Christian Science,...

In gratitude to God for the great gift of Christian Science, this testimony is given. A little less than two years ago I came to Christian Science for help for a serious intestinal trouble. Two operations had already been performed and a third one seemed to be necessary. In such utter misery was I that death itself seemed to be the only escape from my troubles, and it was constantly in my thoughts. Along with this trouble was another, a so-called incurable one,—although we were trying everything that could be found to cure it,—known as tubercular glands of the neck. Osteopathy, X-ray and serum treatments had been administered, with little apparent effect.

Being ignorantly prejudiced against Christian Science, it was with great fear and distrust that we sought help from a practitioner. The help was lovingly given and the work so well done that in four days' time I was dressed and sitting out in the yard. The bowels resumed their natural functions, which had not occurred since my childhood; the swelling of the glands disappeared; and glasses which had been worn for about fifteen years were discarded after the first treatment. In Christian Science I have found health, and I have found God, a God of peace and joy and love, for God is Love, as the Scriptures so beautifully teach us.

I am indeed thankful for our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which leads us into the pathway of health and life eternal. I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for all the Christian Science literature, which seems to come when it is most needed; and also grateful for the privilege of class instruction, which opens up the way to a broader understanding of practice and demonstration, the ultimate aim of all true Christian Scientists. To follow Jesus' command, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven," is the one desire of my life.
