[Written for the Sentinel]

Giving

O Happy little flower, with heart of gold
That doth the gladness of the sunlight hold,
To me thou teachest lessons manifold.

From dawn unto the ending of the day,
If radiant be the hours or somber gray,
Thy joy thou sharest with all who pass thy way.

And generous and glad as e'er thou art,
Bestowing from the fullness of thy heart,
So would I give, — the joy of Love impart!
