When
the student of Christian Science first awakens to the realization that its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, has furnished "the key" wherewith to unlock the treasures of the Bible, then comes with its amplification the dawn of the spiritual idea indicated in the words, "unto us a child is born.
Through
healing all manner of so-called incurable conditions of mankind, Christian Science has established itself as the religion taught and practiced by Christ Jesus nineteen hundred years ago; but in spite of this, one may sometimes hear remarks intended to discredit it, or make it appear ridiculous.
It
is hardly possible to find a man or woman who has not always looked upon sin as a temptation to be resisted or to which the person might yield; but without a knowledge of Christian Science how few admit that disease is a temptation.
When
one has entered into the joy of studying Christian Science, incidents that perhaps seemed unimportant and which sometimes passed unnoticed, stand out and point very helpful lessons when viewed metaphysically.
In a series of lectures given in Wabash, statements have been made pertaining to Christian Science that are in many cases, especially the quotations reported in your paper, serious misrepresentations of the teachings of Christian Science.
Since
the primary problem is always with the man himself, it is clear that one who is going to be a Christian Scientist can allow absolutely no tolerance for any error within.

For many years previous to taking up the study of Christian Science I had been searching the Bible, desiring to know God, as I was sadly in need of physical and mental healing.
Like another writer whose testimony I have just read in the Sentinel, I have been realizing lately how much I have been helped by the testimonies in this periodical and how the least I can do, in gratitude, is to add my own.
So much good has come to me since beginning the study of Christian Science that I wish to acknowledge through the Sentinel some of the blessings received.
It is about twenty-three years since Christian Science was brought to my attention, at a time when I seemed to be in the world without hope and without God.
During childhood I heard something of Christian Science through a friend, and later, at the age of sixteen, was completely healed by it of a physical difficulty which I had had since birth.
I know it is not right to withhold any longer an expression of my gratitude for Christian Science, which helps and uplifts me each day if I apply myself honestly to its study.
