For many years previous to taking up the study of Christian Science I had been searching the Bible, desiring to know God, as I was sadly in need of physical and mental healing. While I derived some comfort from the Bible I did not understand it enough to overcome discordant conditions. The first proof I had of the healing efficacy of Christian Science followed my reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. My little girl no longer complained of stomach trouble, which she had had from early childhood, having often been sent home from school on account of feeling too ill to study. This was eight years ago and she has not been troubled with it since.

My little boy was healed of a sore throat, headache, and fever in one day with the help of a practitioner, and of mumps in two days. He once fell, hurting his knee so badly that the bone projected. He was in great pain and could not move his leg or straighten it out. I told him that God could heal him perfectly and asked him to repeat the "scientific statement of being" from Science and Health (p. 468) as he had been taught in the Christian Science Sunday school. He did this and soon closed his eyes as if asleep. I treated him according to my understanding of Christian Science and after about half an hour heard a snap. The child asked if I heard it, saying that it was his knee. He then tried and to his delight he could straighten the leg. This was at six o'clock in the evening. The next afternoon we took a long walk and forgot all about the knee. I certainly am grateful for that beautiful healing. My oldest boy burned his foot badly on a very hot radiator. He asked me to help him to know the truth, which I did. It was morning when this occurred and by afternoon almost all the pain was gone, so that he could put on his shoe. I gave him another treatment, and he felt no discomfort after that.

Not long ago I got up in the morning with a headache and all the symptoms of a cold. While performing my household duties I kept growing worse, so I read a little while from Science and Health and mentally denied the whole thing, knowing that Love can heal instantly, for it is the only power. In about twenty minutes I again took up my duties, and although the symptoms seemed again to manifest themselves, instantly I declared the truth and was perfectly healed in that very same hour. I surely was very happy for this healing, as it proved to me that "the word of God is quick, and powerful."
