During childhood I heard something of Christian Science...
During childhood I heard something of Christian Science through a friend, and later, at the age of sixteen, was completely healed by it of a physical difficulty which I had had since birth. Several physicians had treated me for this trouble, but with no results whatever. About five years later I was afflicted with neuritis in my hands, and as I am a professional pianist it was of course a great hindrance to me in my work. For some time I rested, thinking that by so doing I would be relieved of the trouble; however, after spending some time in the country and at the seashore, as the condition remained unchanged I sought Christian Science treatment and was healed in a very few months.
I studied Christian Science several years and experienced many beautiful healings, before it occurred to me that I was valuing Christian Science more particularly for the help it gave me in my professional work, and also for its physical benefits. I then began to realize how much it had meant to me mentally, morally, and spiritually, and now, although truly grateful for every physical healing, I am still more grateful for the spiritual enlightenment which I have received. Words are inadequate to describe the peace and harmony which have come to me during the past year. It is my greatest desire to be worthy of membership in the Christian Science church, and to let my life attest my sincerity. I am indeed thankful to God, the giver of all good, and to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower. I am also very grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and her other writings, which have made the Bible an understandable book. I realize that, were it not for her wonderful unselfishness and steadfastness, we would not have Christian Science.
