Christian Science was mentioned to me by a neighbor at a time when we were in need of something better than we were then using, as some one of our family of three was always under a doctor's care; but I was very bitter toward what I then thought Christian Science to be, and asked not to hear more said about it. In spite of all my harsh words, my neighbor continued to be kind, and this has always been a revelation to me. To help out with our expenses I took in a few boarders and roomers and this, with a sick husband and a little boy to care for, caused me to have a complete breakdown. Finally the doctor ordered us to go to the country. We became very happy in our new surroundings and the prospects of getting well and strong were most bright. Then I was taken with the same complaint in a worse form than before. I was treated by a doctor but received no benefit and finally became very ill. One day about four o'clock my husband asked the nurse to stay with me while he went for the doctor. Soon after he left, she said that I would not last until my husband came back, and asked if I would consent to have Christian Science treatment. I told her that I had been praying all the afternoon for God to send me Christian Science. She said that I was safe, for there was a practitioner only five miles away. A messenger was sent to ask for absent treatment and in a short time I was feeling much better.

When my husband arrived at the doctor's he was told that no earthly power could save me; but when he reached home about one o'clock he found that the nurse had gone home, as she was no longer needed. I was sitting up in bed, smiling, and said: "I am healed. God has healed me." In the morning I dressed myself, and took my seat at the breakfast table, something I had not done in a long time. After breakfast I went out in my flower garden, picked a large bunch of flowers, climbed into the buggy, and went with the driver to see the practitioner. This was over twenty years ago. There have never been any material remedies used in our home since that time. I took up the study of Science and Health and put into practice what I understood. We found it so helpful in caring for our stock, and have seen broken bones, snake bites, cuts from barbed wire, and many other discordant conditions healed by applying the truth that makes free.

As Christian Science has comforted me in sorrow, shielded me from danger, protected me in accident, supplied me in the hour of need, is it any wonder I am thankful? I am grateful for the privilege of class instruction, which has been such a help to me. I hope this testimony may be of help to some one.—(Mrs.) Rosa Jones, Palo Alto, Calif.
