It is ten years since I experienced my first healing in Christian Science. I was then a bride on a ship coming from Europe to America. I had contracted a cold and had a high fever. My husband, who was a beginner in Christian Science, gave me a treatment, and the next morning the fever was gone, but it took longer for the cold to disappear.
For three years prior to my marriage I had lived in the Alps under the constant care of eminent lung specialists, and had been very ill with tubercular disease. I had been allowed to go home but twice during this period, and each time alarming symptoms of lung trouble had reappeared. My fiance, however, had such absolute confidence in Christian Science that we decided to marry and rely wholly on its teachings. I steadily gained strength from the beginning, although my complete healing was slow. Not until after six years of study was the last vestige of fear overcome, but I experienced many beautiful proofs of the power of divine Love while this demonstration was being made. I am the mother of a healthy boy eight years old, who has never had any medicine.
