Having been benefited by reading the testimonies in the...
Having been benefited by reading the testimonies in the Sentinel I wish to give mine so as to help others. In the beginning of 1916, while suffering from an earache, I had a nervous breakdown. For a number of years I had been troubled with weak nerves, stomach and bowel disorder, and other ailments. I had tried all sorts of treatment to remedy them and at times seemed to obtain temporary relief, but when this breakdown came I was firmly convinced that no material means could help me, and was just waiting for death to take me from this plane of existence. The family were very anxious for me to try another physician, but the last one had advised that I should be taken to a sanitarium, and to this I would not consent.
When in this condition Christian Science was proposed, and after some consideration I consented to try it. A practitioner was called in, and treatment was given, with the result that I was awakened to the fact that death is not a blessing but an enemy to be overcome with Truth, Life, and Love; that we do not get to the Father by dying but by living the life that reflects God. Through this understanding I have been brought to useful service in my Father's business.
I feel grateful for the many blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science and for Mrs. Eddy, who was near enough to God to receive this blessing firsthand, and to bring it to all mankind.
