When one is constantly receiving blessings and is filled...
When one is constantly receiving blessings and is filled with gratitude to God for all of them, one cannot have too many ways of expressing that appreciation. I know that, as our Leader says, "gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks" (Science and Health, p. 3), so am trying to live it in daily deeds.
Although I bought my first copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy more than five years ago, I did not commence its serious study until about a year later. Since then I have been an earnest student of this wonderful Bible commentary, and having commenced its study I could not long remain neglectful of the Bible itself, so that these two books are the most loved ones in my possession to-day. Since taking up this study of the Science of being, I have thrown away glasses that were worn constantly for about nine years, have been relieved of constant backache and headache, of homesickness and unhappiness, and have to a great extent realized "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding." My son, who is eight years old, is a regular attendant at the Christian Science Sunday school, and prefers going there to any other pleasure that may be offered him. Several times his life has been saved, "miraculously," many said, but we knew it was divinely natural, since God is everywhere, all-powerful, all-loving, and an ever watchful Father-Mother.
I had many doubts before taking up this study,—doubts about God, doubts about man, doubts about everything,—and I wanted so to know the truth. Now all these doubts are destroyed, and "I know that my redeemer liveth." For the inestimable privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and of our local society; for the privilege of being about the Father's business in our church services; for the reading of all our valuable literature and distribution of same; and for other church activities, I am thankful to God, and grateful to that wonderful woman, Mrs. Eddy, and to all the faithful workers who make services and literature possible.
