[From a soldier in France]

"All my life I have been subject to fits of depression and temper, and in September, 1917, felt as though I hadn't a friend in the world and didn't care very much either. A gentleman in the place where I was at that time had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mrs. Eddy. I asked him to let me read it, and I know now that it was one of God's angels which prompted the asking.

"I opened the book at the first page of the chapter entitled 'Prayer,' read just that page, put the book on the table, and knew that I had found the religion which I had always wanted. The world suddenly changed from a place of gloom to one of joy and peace. It seemed that I was in heaven for about two weeks, but of course I had to go to the bottom of the hill and work up again. I hope that by living a cleaner, purer life I may be able to show my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for all she has done. The Lesson-Sermons have been a great help to me, also the Sentinels and Journals. I know that Christian Science is the way our Master taught and I pray God every day for understanding."
