I would like to express my gratitude to God for what...

I would like to express my gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me. I did not take up Science for physical healing as much as for the overcoming of sin. After a night of riotous living I found myself in a very nervous state, which was noticed by the lady, a Christian Scientist, with whom I was living, and she asked if she could be of any help to me. As I needed help very much, I accepted her offer. I was on my way to town and by the time I reached there, ten or fifteen minutes later, I was healed. I was healed of the liquor habit just by reading Science and Health, and also of the habit of smoking and chewing, to which I had been in bondage for fifteen years. Since coming into the Army I have been reconciled to my mother, whom I had neglected for a long time.

I am especially grateful for the War Relief work, as it is now called. I was helped financially as well as spiritually through this channel. Many temptations have come to me while in the service, but they have been overcome by holding fast to the truth as taught by our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The building opened by this committee seemed to be a place of refuge in time of need, when one wanted a quiet place for reading or study.

I want to thank every one who helped me to gain the understanding I have of God, and hope that this testimony will help some in need as I was. I am better mentally and physically, and my morals are now of a standard which one feels grateful for, and are becoming better every day through the understanding and application of this truth.
