It gives me the deepest sense of gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy that through Christian Science I can be a living witness to the healing power of God, and the peace which passes all understanding.
A year ago last May, while living in Miami, Florida, I contracted what is known there as Cuban itch, a terrible skin affliction. Having the eruption on my limbs and hands I was helpless. I was at the time among strangers, and through the kindness of a Christian Scientist who came to care for my baby, this wonderful truth came to me. The disease being considered very contagious, every one was afraid of me, but she came so full of love and so free from all sense of fear that Love was reflected in our home. Two of the best physicians had treated me, but with no relief. I shall never forget how beautiful my healing was, and how quickly I was relieved, in only two Christian Science treatments. When the ninety-first psalm was read to me the passage which says not to fear the pestilence that "walketh in darkness" came so clearly, as if God had spoken to me, for my misery was worse at night. Next morning all trace of the eruption was gone. This healing, together with the spiritual understanding of God, has changed my life, for I have found a new heaven and a new earth. I have had Christian Science treatments for my baby in the case of stomach trouble while teething, and for a very inflamed eye. These discordant conditions all vanished before the truth. I have been healed of bowel disorder and the most severe throat affection, for which I had been treated by leading specialists for years. Last summer a physician said all that could help me was an operation for a trouble from which I had suffered many years, but Christian Science treatment was asked for and Truth restored all to perfect harmony.
Christian Science has brought to me the true understanding of God and how perfect Love casts out fear. During the recent influenza epidemic I was alone with my baby; but the ninety-first psalm was my help and I rested calmly, knowing that no harm or plague could come nigh my door. I am very grateful for the authorized literature, which is always a help to me. I am also very grateful for the peace and harmony that this healing truth has brought into my life, and hope this testimony may prove a blessing to others.
