With a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science and...
With a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science and what it has done for me, I send this testimony. I feel as if all I have of health and joy I owe to the proving of its truths. Twice I have been in the "valley of the shadow." I did not come through these trying experiences in a short time, but each trial was followed by an uphill journey which left me farther along than I was before. As a child I was troubled a great deal with a very common and chronic ailment, one usually considered incurable. This was entirely overcome in one Christian Science treatment at the age of fifteen years, and from then on through my girlhood days every condition, however discordant, was always met in Christian Science.
My greatest gratitude goes forth to the early teachings of my loving mother, who daily taught me the fundamental truths of this Science, who helped me over every obstacle and was always near and ready to point the way upward and on. Through the spiritual help she had given me I was later enabled to overcome the sense of separation from her and another dear one, and to take up my work and go on, knowing that divine Love shows us heaven here and now, no separation and no pain, and our loved ones climbing upward the same paths together.
To try to express in words my gratitude for the understanding of God, divine Love, as shown forth in our Leader's writings and the daily, weekly, and monthly periodicals of Christian Science, seems futile; only through painstaking, careful, and lifelong study and practice of these same works can one adequately show forth gratitude, appreciation, and love.—(Miss) Hilah R. Foote, Sarasota, Fla.
