I became interested in Christian Science about three...
I became interested in Christian Science about three years ago. A shopmate saw my need and supplied it by giving me the Home Forum page of the Monitor each day as he was through with it. The metaphysical articles on those pages surely opened my eyes to the reality of being, as they are still doing each day the Monitor appears. Since then evil has been gradually falling away from me, such as smoking, drinking, dishonesty, immorality, and all the things that go to make up existence while we are ignorant of God, good. The result is that I have experienced a complete reform in my life, and find that I have a constant desire and capability for reflecting good.
I have had many physical healings. Stomach trouble believed to be hereditary, has been overcome to the extent that I can eat what is put before me without any fear of discomfort. I have been healed of toothache, fear of dentistry, influenza, and boils. A felon accompanied by an infected bone on the end of my left forefinger was healed by Christian Science after over a month of unsuccessful hospital treatment. My experience in military service was a demonstration right from the start, as the very thought of it had been a nightmare to me, not only on account of the discomforts supposed to go with it, but on account of being thrown with so many men, and for other reasons. This feeling was overcome through Science, but when I tried to enlist I was refused at the recruiting office as I did not pass the eye test. Another examination was granted me, and in the meantime I had help from a practitioner, so that I passed all right three days later.
I am indeed grateful for Christian Science. It is everything to me; if it had not come to me I do not know what would have happened, as I was fast on the decline. I am very grateful for help received through practitioners; also for the literature which provides a constant channel for good. I am most grateful for the spiritual uplift, for membership in The Mother Church, and for Mrs. Eddy.
