This testimony is given for the purpose of expressing...

This testimony is given for the purpose of expressing something of the gratitude I feel toward Christian Science for the great help it has been to me in every way. I became interested in it through the healing of a friend. This friend was afflicted with tubercular disease of the lungs and to mortal sense was beyond hope of recovery, but a lady who had experienced the healing efficacy of Christian Science lent him that most wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Through the study of this book he was healed in a very short time. This healing seemed so wonderful to me that I went to the Public Library and procured a copy of Science and Health. The first chapter was proof enough for me to know that I had found the answer to all the questions about God and man.

At that time, four years ago, I was seemingly in that state of consciousness where the only things that appealed to me were cheap novels, gambling, drinking, and infidelity, but those errors very quickly vanished, and as I have been tried out in all those things in the past fifteen months, I can confidently say that they have no more attraction for me. My only joy now is in the Christian Science publications, especially the Monitor. The fine articles in these periodicals have enabled myself and my wife to overcome a sense of separation caused by my entering the United States military service. In fact this separation has been a blessing, because it has forced us to turn to divine Mind for love and supply, and we have both advanced in understanding of what Life really is. I do not know what I would do without Christian Science, especially in the Army. Conditions, new duties, and every problem can be met by knowing that man is made in the image and likeness of God. The realization of this truth will dispel any fear of failure, and the result is always harmonious.

I have received a great deal of help and encouragement from the Christian Science Camp Welfare workers at the different camps in the United States, and have been plentifully supplied with knitted goods by the Christian Science Comforts Forwarding committee. I am most grateful to all who are connected with the Christian Science activities and to Mrs. Eddy for giving us Science and Health.
