When I first heard of Christian Science I was traveling South in search of health. On the way I met a lady who was becoming interested in this study. It awakened my thought, so that on my return I looked into the subject and visited a reading room, also asked for treatment. I have since learned that demonstration comes by waiting on God, but I did not comprehend that at once. By continued searching of the Scriptures to understand God in this new light I was healed. Headaches and paralysis of the bowels were overcome by the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which enabled me to understand the Bible with its promises in the true, scientific way. A bandage was removed which had been worn to help varicose veins, and this condition has not caused any difficulty since. Then an internal growth came away naturally, convincing a member of the family for the first time that the understanding of Truth does heal. This was a clear case of mental surgery, and the person believed what he saw, knowing that this did not simply happen, but was the result of divine help. I have also been healed of bronchial asthma and enlargement of the heart.

These healings have taken place since 1899. Since then it has been a gradual coming out of deep waters, and knowing that the remedy is always at hand has brought to my home a great blessing. Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." "These things" to me have been health, joy, peace, and plenty. I can ask for nothing more except for added spiritual understanding.

In loving gratitude this testimony is given, with a grateful thought to the physicians of many schools of materia medica, who tried to help me and exhausted their human skill in my behalf. Being of foreign birth, I am certainly grateful to be a citizen of this United States of America, under whose Government I have received not only a right to the human sense of freedom, but the spiritual freedom and peace that passes understanding.
