"Over the top"

Isaiah said: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it." This flowing unto the Lord's house is the spiritual going "over the top." The ark rested upon the top of the mountain, and Noah was safe. The beliefs of the flesh had been washed away. Consciousness had been purged. Ararat was the dry land appearing out of the darkness upon the face of the deep. Noah had gone over the top and become fruitful, replenishing the earth.

Abraham was led up to the top of the mountain where he could look northward and southward and eastward and westward. Here God said, "All the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever." All we perceive through demonstration is as dry land appearing. God always sustains us in our realization of truth. This is the rock Christ, upon which we stand, and it is as the top of the mountain. Moses, who led an army through the Red Sea on dry ground, climbed to the top of Sinai, and there received the spiritual law to govern Israel. One noted man of research, who has spent many years in the Holy Land, affirms Mount Sinai to have been a volcano whose eruption at one time destroyed Sodom. This may be only a supposition. One thing is true, however; we should all follow our Leader's injunction found in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" on page 241: "Strive to reach the Horeb height where God is revealed; and the corner-stone of all spiritual building is purity." When we have once attained that purity, it will prove the stone cut from the mountain without hands, and it will fall upon and grind to powder the unfruitful works of darkness that gender to bondage. "Our God is a consuming fire."

Deborah at Ephraim sat upon the top of the mountain, and Israel came up to her for judgment. Later she went out with Barak at the head of the army of Israel and defeated the forces of heathenism at Megiddo. Megiddo of the Old Testament was a prototype of the Armageddon of the New Testament, where again woman takes the lead. "In this revolutionary period," says Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 268), "like the shepherd-boy with his sling, woman goes forth to battle with Goliath." Jesus, who walked over the wave with his "Peace, be still," went up on the mount of transfiguration and proved for all mankind that God is a God of the living, and that Moses never died. As we become willing to follow the Master, we too shall still the tempest and help to bring a just and righteous peace that shall never perish from the earth.
