Among the Churches

Current Notes

Skagway, Alaska.—Next Sunday [May 5] the Christian Science Society will begin to hold services in their new home at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Main Street. This property, formerly the First Baptist Church, was bought by the Christian Science Society last fall. The building has been in the hands of carpenters, painters, paper hangers, and other artisans since that time. Such alterations were made as were required, and other necessary work was done, so that now the edifice is one of the most artistic, both inside and out, of any in Skagway.

This society was formed some six years ago, and services since that time have been held in the Alaskan Building. As the society grew, the need for a more appropriate building was recognized and the result was the purchase and remodeling of the above-mentioned property.—The Alaskan.

Covina, Cal.—Opening services for the new church building of First Church of Christ, Scientist, were held Sunday [May 19]. The building has been erected at the corner of Third and West Center Streets, and is of colonial design. Although not large it has a stately and dignified appearance. The auditorium will seat two hundred and fifty people, and there are several small rooms.
