Nearly four years ago I was suffering very much from what the doctors called general debility. I had constant headaches, and my eyes gave me a good deal of trouble. I was wearing glasses for both distance vision and reading, but in spite of this I worried continually, and was haunted by a fear of becoming blind. Notwithstanding this aid, and continual resting of my eyes, they seemed to get worse, and an eye specialist told me that they would continue to get worse, and I should wear glasses always.

At my first reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was able to take off the reading glasses, and shortly afterward discarded the others. Although not yet perfect, my vision is much improved. I can do much reading and fine sewing. My general health has improved greatly, and a constant sense of fatigue has been overcome to a large extent. I am also rejoicing in the gradual disappearance of bad temper, discontent, and selfishness. After I had been studying Christian Science for about a year, the father of one of my friends remarked, "In the last year your character has completely changed."

I am most grateful for the peace and joy which have come to me through Christian Science. Although to mortal seeming I have recently lost—in the death of my husband in France—all that made for human happiness, yet through Christian Science I am most joyfully learning that death is the illusion and can never separate God's ideas from God. I can truthfully say that my joy increases daily as I learn more of God and patiently wait on His will. Before I learned of this teaching I was ill, "tossed with tempest," and sunk in depression; now I am well and happy. I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her work and love and patience.
