I am indeed grateful to Christian Science for a demonstration that was made in August, 1912, and which was the cause of my taking up the study that has proved such a blessing to me. My son, eight years old at the time, was helping around the haystacker, and in some way his right hand was caught in one of the pulley ropes. The nails and flesh were torn from the two middle fingers and the hand was otherwise lacerated. He was taken at once to a physician, who said the fingers ought to be amputated, but considering the age of the child he would dress the wounds, although he thought the boy might never have any finger nails. The next day I called on a friend, a Christian Science practitioner, and asked for help to overcome the pain. She assured me there was no pain in Truth, and said she would take up treatment immediately. After that the child slept well, never complained of any pain, and in about six weeks was doing his share of the milking, which was from three to five cows twice a day. His finger nails are now as perfect as before the accident. My one desire is to prove my thankfulness to God for all His blessings by striving to have more of that Mind in me "which was also in Christ Jesus."
