It is gratifying to Christian Scientists to read in your issue of July 1 the tribute paid by a clergyman to Mrs. Eddy and her great love for mankind which has touched the hearts of unnumbered thousands who have felt the benefit of her unselfish Christian labors in behalf of suffering humanity. May I point out, however, that Christian Science stands upon a purely spiritual basis and therefore is not properly to be associated with systems which do not maintain and demonstrate the unreality of all that is material. Because Spirit or God is the only cause, Christian Science denies the reality of matter or flesh, and on this basis its teachings replace material psychology with God's spiritual law.

On page 9 of "Unity of Good" Mrs. Eddy writes: "What is the cardinal point of the difference in my metaphysical system? This: that by knowing the unreality of disease, sin, and death, you demonstrate the allness of God. This difference wholly separates my system from all others."
