Accuracy

The word of God has always existed, but it has not always been understood or accurately stated; hence scientific Christian healing was not always practiced. From Jesus' time to the time of the Emperor Constantine, Christian healing took place, but from then until Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science, healing through the understanding that God is All was lost sight of.

Recently I climbed up to the wireless station on the outskirts of our city, and upon entering the little room where the operator was receiving and sending messages, my eyes fell upon a sign over his desk, printed in large red letters which read, "Accuracy First." At once I understood how important it was that the operator should do his work accurately. The slightest mistake in one letter might change the whole message, and disastrous results might follow; whereas, by adopting that motto, "Accuracy First," and following its unvarying demand, the complete and perfect message would be received by the person to whom it had been sent. After thinking along this line, my thoughts turned to the truth about God and man, and I knew that just in the proportion that I understood the Principle of Christian Science and stated it accurately, could I demonstrate it. On page 283 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "The divine Principle, or Life, cannot be practically demonstrated in length of days, as it was by the patriarchs, unless its Science be accurately stated."

The wireless operator studies and learns how to receive and send a message. To the one who knows nothing of this business, the mere sounds would mean nothing; but to him who knows, each sound has its part in the message. Thus it is with the man who sees everything in the world as material; but the man who has learned through the study of Christian Science that this material universe is but a false concept of mortal mind and that the spiritual creation alone is real, receives the message of Truth and gives it accurately to the world, and thereby blesses himself and others.
