Christian Science has revealed to me the true nature of God as Love, always present, always healing, always comforting. When the study of this teaching was taken up I was suffering from chronic stomach troubles and sick headeches. My physician had done his best to help me, but without permanent relief. Christian Science came to me in a language of which I knew very little, but I have been greatly helped in the search for Truth through the kindness of a practitioner who helped me to see the light, and through the words of Isaiah: "The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned."

After gaining some understanding of what Love, Mind, Life, Principle, Soul, Truth, Spirit, means and how it is applied, I asked for treatment, and what joy was experienced when the above-mentioned difficulties disappeared, and also the appetite for tobacco and the social drink habit ceased to hold me in bondage. My glasses I could lay aside and my sight has been normal. As this healing occurred about eleven years ago I consider it permanent. I am able to read the finest print without any trouble whatsoever. I am in perfect health and have never had the slightest desire for drink or tobacco since. What a blessing it is to be free from bondage! This healing was accomplished through the right application of the ever present demonstrable law of God, Love, and inspired me to study more closely the Bible and Science and Health, with the result that I have had many helpful experiences.

About two years after this, while attending a business college, I had a severe attack of what is called yellow jaundice. I tried to apply my understanding of the truth to overcome it and was able to attend to my classes and prepare my lessons, although the pain seemingly at times was more than I could handle. I did not pay any attention to the change of color in my face until my teacher and several students said that I must be sick and must need medical attention. I then asked for leave of absence from the school, and called a Christian Science practitioner over the long distance telephone, telling her that I would be home about six o'clock. During the travel of forty-seven miles I constantly declared the truth. After reaching home, treatments were given at once, as the condition seemed to be growing worse. Friends gave up hope for me, but thanks to the right application of Christian Science the pain ceased to predominate, and I rested in the comforting assurance that divine Love was and is always available to overcome anything that is unlike God, and therefore I could not manifest anything that does not belong to the image and likeness of God. Although it was several days before a natural color returned, I was enabled to take up my studies the following week, a well man. Cases like this are considered by the medical profession to last at least several weeks or months. One of my classmates was suffering from the same disease and was absent from college for some time.
