For the past ten years Christian Science has been a constant help to me; especially has it relieved me from anxiety as to what the future might bring forth, making me satisfied to "take the manna of to-day" and hold no fear for tomorrow. In first taking up this study I had no thought of healing. I felt that such physical ailments as I had were only natural, such as anyone was likely to have, and I considered myself fortunate in being healthier than the average person. I had no religious connections, but believed that as a matter of human policy it paid to abstain from evil. How glad I am that Christian Science gives us an understanding of God as divine Principle, whose law is just and never errs—this is the foundation of all science.
In my youth I was obliged to weigh carefully the value of every cent of my earnings, and later I found great joy in counting the few dollars I had been able to save. Twice I lost my savings before I learned the instability of material treasures. My first cheerful gift to a worthy cause was returned many fold. How plainly I was shown that "it is more blessed to give than to receive." When my eyes were opened to the truth I found myself free from many old beliefs. I no longer suffered from skin eruptions, which had visited me each spring and fall as far back as I can remember. These outbreakings were supposed to be the results of ivy poisoning and were very disagreeable not only to me but also to other members of the family, who were called upon to dress the affected parts. At my boyhood home, bees were kept, and I had a dreadful fear of them. As a consequence I was frequently and painfully attacked, each sting resulting in great swelling, often disfiguring me beyond recognition. Since learning of Christian Science I have had similar experiences without pain or swelling of any kind. Formerly each winter brought coughs and colds, but now all fear of them has been destroyed.
Physically, financially, and spiritually I have been helped in proportion to my understanding, and I rejoice in the knowledge that God is at hand and not afar off.
