All that I am to-day, mentally and physically, I owe to...
All that I am to-day, mentally and physically, I owe to the ministrations of Christian Science. The first healing experienced was that of nervous breakdown, from which I had been suffering for several months. An office position was being held for me until a certain date, and for that reason a great effort was made to get well. As the time drew near in which work was to be resumed, it seemed as if it would be an impossibility, and in my extremity Christian Science help was asked for. In two days I was able to return to the office. One by one the troubles vanished and in a few months I was in a normal condition. In Isaiah we read, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." This was the angel which sustained me; and the beautiful passage of Scripture, which before had been mere words, became illuminated with spiritual meaning. I now know in some measure what Jesus meant when he said, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Since that time there have been many proofs of God's power to heal. A severe attack of tonsillitis was overcome in two days, and I have never had a return of the ailment. A painful growth on the bottom of one foot also disappeared in a very short time. Belief in grief was totally destroyed at the time a dear sister passed from our sight. During this trail such an assurance of the unity and ever presence of divine Mind and its expression was experienced that there has been no sense of loss or suffering. The purification which is taking place in consciousness is, however, the greatest healing of all; and while the uncovering of sinful tendencies has not always been pleasant, I realize that it is Truth's method of destroying everything unlike God, thereby making room for Christlike qualities.
I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy, through whose unceasing labors for mankind this testimony, as well as thousands of others, has been made possible. I am also grateful to those faithful ones who have helped me on the way.—(Miss) Edith M. Turner, Malden, Mass.
