With heartfelt gratitude I give my testimony of what...
With heartfelt gratitude I give my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me and mine during the past six years. After our first baby came I was left in very poor health. I lived in misery for half a year, suffering from headache and stomach trouble, and was then asked by a relative to try Christian Science. I went to a practitioner merely for physical relief, and after the first treatment came away knowing I would be helped. The next morning upon arising I felt as if a load had been lifted from my shoulders, but did not realize that I had experienced instantaneous healing. Fear still held me in bondage to the thought that these conditions might return, so I took three weeks' absent treatment and was a well woman.
I secured the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read it through hurriedly, expecting to find some formula for the healing process, but was disappointed. The practitioner told me that I had soared to the mountain top, but must go back and climb slowly, until I gained the understanding of God's omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience. I became discouraged many times when the path would seem dark and I could not see my way clearly, but at those times I would turn to the testimonies in the Sentinel and gain courage to press on.
The Christian Science periodicals have been a great help and they are like daily manna to me. I have had many beautiful demonstrations of God's love and care, for my children and myself and also for animals. Medicine has not been used for the children or myself since coming into Christian Science. A few weeks after my first healing my eldest daughter was healed of a bowel disorder through the little understanding I had then gained of the truth, and she has never had a return of the trouble.
