When I began the study of Christian Science I was suffering from defective eyesight, which made it impossible for me to read more than a page or two of a book at a time. Before I had read Science and Health half through I found myself able to use my eyes in reading and studying from eight to ten hours a day without any ill effects. This healing has proved permanent, for my eyes have been put to the most severe tests during the past five years, and I have laid aside heavy glasses, which had been worn since I was twelve years old.

This healing was accomplished simply through reading the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and it has proved to me conclusively that Christian Science healing does not come through the operation of one human mind over another, as some have surmised, but that it is the simple action of Truth destroying error. I did not begin the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but through a desire to know the truth, and I attribute my instantaneous healing to this fact. If we seek "first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness,"—which I understand to be a knowledge of the truth,—no thought of disease can remain in our consciousness.
