For many years I have been the recipient of the priceless benefits that come through Christian Science, to which I turned for physical healing when after much inquiry I found its logic reasonable, in fact inescapable. While a student of medicine I was suddenly afflicted with a dreadful disease. My case was placed in the hands of a reputable physician, but after several weeks' treatment he held out only meager hopes of permanent recovery. I was mentally despondent and had often contemplated self-destruction, when my attention was called to Christian Science. Finally, being convinced that it offered some real hope for me, I dismissed the doctor and engaged a Christian Science practitioner.

From that day my whole experience began to change, and the immediate results were no less than wonderful. I was like a bird out of its cage,—light hearted, joyous, free. My hope was immeasurable, whereas before only darkness, pain, and despair were my lot; also, I was steadily improving physically. For the first time in my life I had an inclination to study the Bible, and for the first time I found its words harmonizing with reason. I read the Bible and Science and Health daily, and soon began to gain an understanding of God as Spirit, Love, infinite Mind, Principle, and of man made in His likeness. After several weeks I was greatly improved in every way, and undertook to complete my healing without the practitioner's help. Then began in earnest the struggle with old challenging beliefs, medical theories, and the like; but one and all of these gave way before the spiritual enlightenment I was gaining.

My final healing was slow, but the time and efforts put forth to obtain it have enriched me spiritually, morally, and physically far beyond my highest hopes. During this period of work and study I was healed of fistula, bowel disorder, kidney and bladder trouble, abscess, corns, bunions, burns, bronchitis, influenza, and other troubles, some of these discords being overcome instantaneously or within a few hours. Morally the benefits are even greater, for from being a wretched, evil thinking man of the world I was lifted to a plane of thought where former things were repellent, obnoxious, and finally passed completely out of my life. During this process I was healed of the tobacco habit and of the social drink habit, although I took no treatment for the error in either case.
