[Written for the Sentinel]

"Be still, and know"

"Be still, and know" that angels guard
While clouds of sense obstruct the way,
And ever and anon rejoice
And work and watch till dawns the day.

"Be still, and know" that thou, God's child,
Art ever safe from all that harms,
Fore'er enfolded in His love,
Within the all encircling arms.

That what to thee may seem distress,
E'en agony, or woe, or pain,
Is but a trial of thy faith:
In Truth thou wilt find peace again.

So in Love's allness thou canst rest,
And know the truth, that thou art free,
Possessing what thou ne'er canst lose,
Health, holiness, and liberty.
