The Lectures

Corpus Christi, Texas (Society A correction was made in the June 2, 1917 Sentinel: Credit for the lecture reported in the Sentinel of May 5 as given by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Corpus Christi, Texas, belongs to the Christian Science Society of that city, it being their first lecture since organizing.  ).—Ezra W. Palmer, lecturer; introduced by Mrs. Sara B. Turner, who said in part:—

Since time immemorial there has been an innate longing in the heart of man for a greater knowledge of good, for a higher understanding of the infinite God. As a result, revelations have come to the world from time to time through its great religious reformers. In the year 1866 a New England woman, who from earliest childhood had led a life of prayer and devout consecration to the omnipotent God, received the revelation of the Science of the Christianity which was taught by Jesus the Christ.

Jesus' command to his disciples, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature," was no more imperative than was this command: "As ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." Now for nearly fifty years this Science has had strong demands made upon it, and has not been found wanting. By the practical application of the rules given us in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, the sick have been lifted from beds of invalidism, sinners have been reformed, and the sorrowing comforted.—Corpus Christi Times.
