Gratitude to God for His great goodness impels me to...
Gratitude to God for His great goodness impels me to give this testimony. Two years ago my little three year old girl was taken very ill. Although I had been acquainted with Christian Science for quite a while, I yielded to a temporary sense of excitement, and in order to quiet my relatives called in a physician, who stated that it was a serious case of inflammation of the lungs, and prescribed a medicine which he described as a new and especially good remedy. I did not give the child the medicine, however, as in the mean while I had become more quiet and wished to put my trust solely in God, but requested the services of a Christian Science practitioner, who took up treatment at once. At noon the child experienced relief, asked for nourishment, and ate with a good appetite. When on the following day the physician found her entirely well, he was greatly astonished and hardly knew what to say, but in leaving remarked that the newly discovered frug must have had a good effect. I knew without a doubt that it was the truth newly discerned that effected the healing and brought health, but did not have the courage to acknowledge freely to the doctor that I had not given the medicine and that help had come through Christian Science.
Another daughter, eleven years old, suffered from a disease affecting the bones. I instructed the child in Christian Science so far as I understood the subject, and worked for her, with the result that to our great joy the trouble disappeared in a short time, and it has not returned. I would also like to tell of the healing of headaches and of swollen face. Through holding to the truth of God's omnipotence both these troubles, as well as other minor ailments, disappeared in a very short while. I think of Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, with a deep sense of gratitude for having shown us the way to true liberty and peace.
