In the fall of 1913 I came into Christian Science for...
In the fall of 1913 I came into Christian Science for physical healing, having suffered with my head for more than twenty years, although several physicians had treated me. I had just been under the care of a specialist and had undergone two serious operations, besides having numerous hemorrhages and suffering untold agony. On my way to New Orleans to have my head treated, the thought came to me to try Christian Science; so upon my arrival in that city I immediately telephoned to a practitioner and made an appointment with her. I was healed in one treatment, but not having sufficient faith in God, the giver of all good, I let fear creep into my consciousness and had the practitioner treat me three times. Before I had read Science and Health half through inflammatory rheumatism was overcome.
Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 410) that "every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger," and this has indeed been proven to me, for I have had many trials, both physical and financial, and each one has been met and overcome through my knowledge of this beautiful truth. I am deeply thankful to God, and also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the numerous blessing received, but more grateful for the peace and joy and happiness, and for the spiritual uplift that has come into my life through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
Maud R. McGowan, New Orleans, La.
