When help was sought in Christian Science I knew little about this teaching, having heard it mentioned only a few times. My husband's father was healed through the power of Truth after the doctors had said he would have to be operated on for an abscess. He is a hale and hearty man of seventy-two years, and was the first one to advise me to go to a Christian Science practitioner before submitting to an operation.

I had been examined by seven or eight doctors at various times, and all had different advice to give. Finally, to satisfy some of my family, I went to Reno, Nev., and was examined again. This doctore said I had a fibrous tumor and would have to be operated on immediately. Having a fear of operations, I went to see a Christian Science practitioner, and treatment was given me. That evening I bought a copy of Science and Health, and the next morning went home on the train, a distance of about ninety miles. (I was not then living in Reno.) I studied this text-book diligently to get my health, and in two weeks was healed of the growth, also of asthma, lung trouble, and hay fever.
