Christian Science is based distinctly on the teachings of...
Alma (Mich.) Record
Christian Science is based distinctly on the teachings of the Bible, and if its teachings are honestly investigated and studied they will be found to be in strict accord therewith at all points. It lays special stress on the import of the words of the Master, Jesus the Christ, and no other religion enjoins on its members such strict adherence to the teachings of Jesus.
Christian Science sees no excuse in the Bible for divorcing the injunction of the Master to heal the sick from his further commands to preach the gospel and cast out sin. The success which has attended this religion in its ministry to the sick and the sinning is evidence of the fact that it is reinstating the teachings of primitive Christianity in their full import. There is hardly a known disease which has not been healed through its ministrations, and many a sinful person has been delivered from his bondage through the proper understanding of God and His relation to man as taught in Christian Science.
This religion teaches that there is an immutable law of God which governs the universe, including man, in perfect harmony, and that through the understanding and correct application of this law Jesus was enabled to perform his work. It also teaches that the words and works of Jesus were for the guidance of all mankind throughout all time, and that the healing of the sick and the casting out of sin by Jesus were not merely evidence of his divine sonship, but were examples to all mankind of what must be accomplished by them in the spiritualization of thought through the understanding of God and of His relation to His universe and man.
