When Christian Science came to my notice in the spring of 1905, it found me laboring under a belief of having been wronged by members of my family. This world seemed to hold a dreary outlook for me, and I mistrusted everybody, believing that truthful, honest people were very scarce.

My first healing through the power of Truth was that of a finger which had been injured a year before, and which kept getting worse, although I had tried three different doctors; indeed it looked as if the finger would have to be amputated. A fellow worker spoke to me of Christian Science, saying it healed all manner of disease as Jesus did when here on earth. He loaned me the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and asked me to read the chapter on Prayer first. After doing so, I immediately bought a copy of the book and read it at every opportunity. It was read through not less than six times in succession, and the more I read the more I wanted to read, for its teachings satisfied my needs. As a result of this study the finger was healed; I grew happy, the world became bright, the people I came in touch with were kind to me, and I ceased looking continually for faults in others.

Words cannot express my thankfulness to God for the benefits I have received through this teaching; also my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for giving us the truth in Christian Science. Through absent treatment I have been completely healed of a long standing ailment caused by falls and blows at different times when a boy, which later resulted in a curved spine. I was so crippled one winter that all who knew me gave up hope that I would be able to pull through. My healing in Christian Science was slow but complete.
