This testimony is given with a sense of gratitude and humility. In my thirteenth year I had Bible instruction and was confirmed, but still all too many of Jesus' words and works remained unexplained. Four years later I took up the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, a copy of which had been lent to me by a family who had told me of their healing. Next I read four numbers of the Journal.

As both my parents were ailing, I proposed that they take Christian Science treatment, and it was decided that mother should have treatment first. She was afflicted with a stomach trouble which was not very serious, but which dated back to the birth of her last child, twelve years previous. I took a forty-three mile trip to a neighboring town in order to talk to a Christian Science practitioner in her behalf, and her healing was instantaneous and took place that same day. I gladly secured a copy of the textbook.

Father was suffering from gallstones. He had consulted physicians and spent weeks at the hospital, then came home with seven kinds of medicine besides an electric battery; yet the attacks continued to return, and at shorter intervals, until he had them once or twice a month. However, on the second day after mother's healing I again called on the practitioner, and father was helped in that the attacks became fewer and less severe, until he had none inside of seven months.
