Chicago, Ill. — When critical times on the Mexican border made necessary the mobilization of the National Guard, the Christian Science churches of Chicago, acting through their joint literature distribution committee, began the work of giving a copy of the leather bound pocket edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, or of other works by this author, to any Chicago member of the militia who desired to have the book. The privilege was also extended to recruits for the regular army and the navy, and many men in our country's service gladly accepted this offer, and so found a great aid to the study of the Bible and to spiritual growth. This work has continued without interruption, and is now being extended to the men whose acceptance by our exemption boards gives them the honor of service in the new American army and navy. — The Austinite.
