It is with joy that I testify to the healing power of Truth
It is with joy that I testify to the healing power of Truth. Christian Science, the beautiful new-old religion which Jesus taught and left to us as a rich legacy, was brought to me by friends about ten years ago. Several years later I was healed of what to mortal sense seemed a very badly injured knee, as I was unable to walk. I called a Christian Science practitioner, who after treating me remarked as she departed that I was all right and would need no more help. I felt quite resentful at her remark, but while thinking about it something seemed to ask why I did not try to walk. Obeying the intuition, I arose and walked.
We have had many proofs of the power of Truth in our family. Influenza, chronic bowel trouble, malaria, structural defect of the eye, ptomaine poisoning, and stomach disorder, among other things, have been overcome. The members of my family are students of this Christ-teaching and regular attendants at the Christian Science church. For several years no medicine has been used in our home, although in the old thought it was used daily.
The physical healing is only incidental in comparison with the spiritual understanding, which enables us to see man in God's image and to love our neighbor as ourselves. I am truly thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this Comforter which shall teach us all things. I hope always to be faithfully "waiting for the Mind of Christ," as our Leader expresses it on page ix of the Preface to Science and Health.—Josephine A. Sparks, Oroville, Cal.
