In a recent number of "Health Talks" I included a letter from a girl who claimed to be in need of a surgical operation but who alleged that she was being prevented by her father from having the operation because he was a Christian Scientist. The letter and my reply raised a protest from Christian Scientists, who claim there is nothing in Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to warrant placing obstructions in the way of those who elect to rely upon material methods for relief from sickness and suffering in preference to Christian Science. My reply was based upon the supposition that because Christian Scientists believe they have found a more efficacious means than medicine and surgery, they would oppose the employment of medicine and surgery by others. Evidently this is not their attitude; therefore I am glad to be enlightened on the point and to make this correction.
